Teens bedtimes?

What is a good bedtime for a teen boy (13). During the summer he stays up til midnight and sleeps in til 11am or 12. Now that school has started we are discussing bed times. What is your teens bedtimes??

Teens bedtimes?
Mine is thirteen also. We have always started bedtime around 9:30. He usually is down and in bed by 10:00 at the latest. There are actually days when he chooses to go to bed by 9:00 depending on how he feels. He knows what it is to be tired. He also knows that he does not function as well without the rest he needs. We have never had a problem with him and bedtime during the school years. It is not a discussion he has been allowed to have because it is not his decision to make. It is ours and he accepts it.

You make you wishes known and stick to them. They think they know too much at thirteen (already) and they really don't have a clue.

Just tell him that staying up later is in no way going to prove anything. They need their rest and that is it.

I do not anticipate High School being any different either.
Reply:You shouldn't give a kid a bedtime after they turn 12....They need to make their own decisions on this so they learn from experience that when they don't get enough sleep they can't function.

If you really want to give him a bedtime I'd have to say maybe somewhere between 9:30 and 10:30. Report It

Reply:I tihk 10:00 is good Report It

Reply:11 at the lastest, im 18 and i try to be in the bed by 11, but that never happens i always go in at 12 or 1 in the morning
Reply:10 pm on school nights, no exceptions. one is 13 and the other 16. they get up at 6 am and teens need a good nights sleep.

they are allowed to stay up until midnight on weekends.
Reply:I have a 15-yr-old daughter who has been staying up way too late during the summer. I think a good bedtime for a 13-yr-old would be 10 at the latest. I keep reading that teenagers need lots of sleep (not quite as much as babies, but a lot!!), like 9 or 10 hrs. But how that's possible during the schoolyear is beyond me.
Reply:try nine or nine thirty and see how hard it is for him to get up. If he does not get up on first call make it earlier and see what happens
Reply:I would say no later than 10 pm on school nights. He needs his sleep for all that growing he will be doing. I am sure he needs atleast 9 hours of sleep at night.
Reply:The never had bedtimes after they turned 10 they learn quick enough how the body works when you stay up late and have school the next day.
Reply:My 14 year old daughter always wants to stay up late. She is the youngest, and has accused me of making her into an old lady! I make her go to bed at 10:00 pm, she still sleeps all day. Kids that age cant seem to get enough sleep. They are growing. They all want to sleep all day.
Reply:when ever he wants! as long as he dosent do drugs!
