Teens sleep?

I am 14 years old and I get about 7 hours of sleep a night. Well I got my check up today and the doctor was shocked. She said I need at least 9 hours of sleep a night and said that it means that I could be taller if I had more sleep. I know tons of people who get less sleep than me and are like 6'2. How many hours of sleep do u think teens should have and if u r a teen then can u tell me how much sleep u get and ur age plz. Also how much taller do u think I could be right now if this year I got in general 9 hours of sleep a night and also do u think that I will gain the height back?

DONT SLACK ON THE SLEEP!!! If I could go back and change one thing it would be to sleep more!! I'm 20 and probably done growing at five foot nine.. The doctor predicted I would be over 6 like my dads side of the family, but I think all the lifting and lack of sleep between ages 13 and 19 stunted my height.





More importantly, I believe 110% that how much sleep you get affects how well you learn.. In high school I was always just below average academically. I am a very rare case, but in college I actually get more sleep than I did in high school. I've noticed a HUGE difference in how well I retain class lecture and reading material. Not to mention I can focus MUCH better on what I'm doing. I think this reaction is totally to do with how much sleep I get and how healthy I keep myself.





As you get older you will have MANY health choices to make. REMEMBER!! Respect your body and it will respect you back!
Reply:umm i dont think that sleep really affects your height that much. maybe if you like don't sleep at all. 7 hours is normal for a teen..it is probably healthier if you slept a little more, but 7 hours of sleep isn't something to stress about.
Reply:im 16 years old and i get about 7-8 hours of sleep and im 5'2''. One of my frinds though gets like 5-6 hours of sleep and is 6'. idk if this helps at all. but im thinking sleep doesnt make you any taller.
Reply:Everyone grows at different rates. 8hours is the normal zone, if your doctor says 9hours then listen. but if you sleep to much you will wake up lazy and tired. im 15 to let you know

Reply:i think thats bull my frien is 6'3 and gets about 5 hours and im really short4'11 and i get 9 hours Im 14
