Why are so many teens getting pregnant and thinking about sex at a young age?!?!?

I mean come on! Yes; there has always been teen pregnancy... but I swear, so many are doing it these days! (lol)

I live in a town with 800 people (small ), I am a teen (ironic). I assume since theres nothing really to do here all the teens drink and have sex... (an extreme amount) I can't even flirt with a guy w/o him trying to take it a LOT farther than that...

Anyway, (ignore my previous details) why do you think a greater amount of teens are preg?!

Is it the parents fault?

Why are so many teens getting pregnant and thinking about sex at a young age?!?!?
There are many reasons why kids are more sexually active these days and getting pregnant, its not just 1 area or persons fault. Here are some reasons!

1: Change in sex education in schools. Its more like anatomy education and not sex ed. Kids aren't getting some of the information needed to protect themselves.

2:Peer Pressure, Age isn't as much of a friend barrier as before so kids have older friends pressuring them to do older things

3:Media and Movies, They see it being done, they see famous people doing it, they want to. simple as that!

4: Tired parents, This generation has a lot of older parents, some older parents with older kids are tired and more likely to allow the kid to get away with stuff they wouldn't have when they were younger parents.

5:Lack of Guidance and the kids thinking they can handle it! Kids are spoiled these days (Not all of them) and Want what they want WHEN they want it!

I hope this helps!!!
Reply:no its usually not the parents fault. a lot of kids are just more exposed to that stuff now. evenb though they're taught not to in school, its just the way it is. i think its bad to do that at such young ages. even kids at the age of 12 are thinking about it now! thats ridiculous. just so many kids are exposed. look at the media. look at the movies kids are watching. it all just piles up...
Reply:Yes, a lot of it is the parent's fault.

A lot of it is not a lack of education, or lack of parenting, but irresponsibilty, stupidity, lack or forethought, and self-indulgence.

How many times to you hear these kids say "it JUST happened"? What BS is that? How stupid do you have to be to believe that? They had sex. That's what happened. They wan to do what feels good at the moment, and yes, booze does make it seem like a better idea. They want to be "grown up". What they will end up with is feeling like a stupid, cheap tramp when they are older.

Who wants to be with someone who had had 40 partners by the time they're 21?

You're a rare breed and you should be very proud of yourself for having some smarts and self control.
Reply:no it not parents it the children they just think it cool
Reply:I live in a small town too, a little bigger than yours though. In my town too, everyone just drinks and has sex to give them something to do.

I partially think some parents are to blame. Not all, but some. The parents that don't keep track of their kids, watch who they hang out with, and the ones who set bad examples for their own kids are the ones to blame. But on the other hand, a child could be raised in a wonderful family, knows about the risks of those behaviors, but just chooses to make bad decisions.
Reply:Well... Being a teen guy.. I'd have to say we pressure women into it... honnestly its addicting... once you start in a relationship its almost impossible to stop. The reason we start pressuring girls into it is our older brothers, friends, and peers talk about how great it is, so we want to experence it as well. And once you start like i said its always on your mind. Just like a drug its addicting.
Reply:sex is fun and it feels good. i love it, they just need to use protection, if they don't watch out for trouble..
Reply:becuase girls are hitting puberty sooner and getting curious about sex sooner and plus sex ed isnt very helpfull i was 15 when i figured out u had to move to have sex when one of those stupid porn popups came on (im 18 now) so i guess its both lack of information and lack of supervison
Reply:so many teens think about sex because it is all over the media.

and it isn't the parents, necessarily, but the examples adults give them.
Reply:Is it the parents' fault?

Not in today's society, it's peer pressure and media.

Why are they thinking about it?

Hormones.

Why are they doing it?

Read the two answers above.
Reply:hormones,media,peer pressure.

Reply:Possibly do to the lack of correct guidance !?!.. , In a certain stage or time in the years of being a TEEN... Most might start hearing things like: "I'm telling you this because you are getting up there in age !! %26amp; you might be able to use this advice when you're older !?!.You're still t0o young to do this, that %26amp; the other !!?!! which may cause some teens to feel or say to self %26amp; or dear friends: something like "WATCH THIS" some feel they are MATURE no matter what some might say !?! or they've been treated like a baby for too long!?! %26amp; they are just trying out some new wings!?! if you know what I mean !?! .. etc .. %26lt;G/L%26gt;~!!! Reply:Okay well I am 19 years old and I have been with my man (who is 20) for over a year and a half and I am pregnant. Should I take offense to this. I mean it's not like I'm not going anywheres with my life I am in college for the second semester in a row making A's and one B. We both have good jobs and we're planning to buy us a trailer because we already have a piece of land to put it on (we were going to build a house but it's kinda hard to PERSONALLY build a house in 9 months)

I see nothing wrong with my situation at all. I'm happy with my life!
Reply:Because our government is ******* stupid and funding schools that teach abstinence instead of actual sex education.
Reply:Because teens are getting stupider and stupider.
Reply:Abstinence only sex education.
Reply:Many schools are having budget problems and are choosing to cut their sexual education classes, assuming that parents will cover that information with their children at home.
Reply:I think its all the pollution in the air getting to their heads.
