Why are some teens so defensive when race questions are asked?

Many parents visit this site to learn and try to understand what actually happens in sites as this. Some words that are used by teens today are not regonized by some adults "slangs""urban dictionary""Spanglish""Ebonics"... The following question above is not to insult any race.religion or culture but to get some responses from teens so that parents can get a better understanding of teen thoughts.

Why are some teens so defensive when race questions are asked?
Because everyone, including teens have learned to be politically correct these days. It pays to be on the right side of everyone as it were. In the immortal words of Franz Kafka, "In the struggle between yourself and the World, it is best to be on the World's side."
Reply:Eh most just think they have to constantly play an ultra-liberal role when it's obvious that someone didn't mean to be offensive. It's much easier to shout out someone well-meaning and passive than an angry racist.

BTW if this is about your white guy hip-hop thing I kinda thought most people were going a bit overboard. It IS really annoying when people do that. =/
Reply:it makes me mad too... it's annoying how so many people try so hard to make things "politically correct".
Reply:parents were teens once too. They have the answers somewhere down there.
Reply:It's a sensitive subject.
Reply:People are getting older....some smarter, some not, all want to be defensive and defend their knowledge (or lack thereof)
Reply:Well I can't see what is so hard to understand here. They get upset because they're teens %26amp; scientifically speaking, their brains are going through a transitory period in which the functions of the brain are hindered. They can't help it!
