I was just wondering what employers look for in teenage employs. I know sometimes teens are thought to be unreliable and flaky but Im not so I was wondering how to show that to a potential employer. What would set one teen apart from another for hiring. Also what are some good jobs for teens?
Teens+jobs...?
WORK AT STARBUCKS they love having teens work there because they are sooooo laid back. plus you get tips, free drinks, tuition reimbursment, 401k. read my profile and look at the question i got a best answer from.
Reply:Wow... you must be in the same situation I am in.
The only thing I can tell you is that there is no hope. You must start out following the McDonald's mule with a shovel and a pale. There is no way to portray your responsibility. It is summer therefore employers already think of you as a slacker for holding out your applications until the last minute.
There are plenty of good jobs for teenagers, but the only ones u will get are from Weis market and McDonald's/Burger King/ any other greasy slimy nasty fast-food joint of death.
Reply:I'm wondering the same thing! most fast food joints hire teens but I'm a vegetarian and I would have a huge4 problem dealing with the meat!
Reply:dress nicely (not necessarily a suit, but not sweatpants and beater), be polite and outgoing and do not say that your only weakness is that you are a perfectionist.
Reply:You can scoop ice cream, work in some clothes stores or pharmacys. U can also go into fast food service. U can babysit, give carwashes be camp counselor, etc. It shouldn't be that hard to get jobs at these types of places. Most people just don't want you to goof off or be talking to ur cell phone while ur working. And don't spit in the fries or put pllastic in the chicken. Some kid from my school actually did that at a fast food place. Crazy! If it a job that requires an interview, then just smile and dress nice (not like really dressy but dont be trashy) Be truthful and try to point out ur talents and good qualities. Goodluck!
Reply:Well teen is from like 13-18 so it depends
If your 17 or 16 you could become a lifeguard or work somewhere like Olympia
Ask Around The Stores.
Good Luck
Reply:You have to take the job very seriously and when you are in the interview tell them that you will not joke around and that you are a hardworking serious person.
It really depends which job you are ok with. You can have fun by working at a camp. I know that lifeguards get paid a very good amount, but you have to take a training course to be one. You can be a waiter and a cashier. Many good jobs out there.
Reply:A good place to work as a teen is a supermarket like Wegmans. They usually hire young people for some reason.
Reply:In my experiences, employers look for people who can be reliable and have flexible schedules. After they already hire you, they look at things like competence and the like. A good employment record is always a plus, too.
As for what would be a good job, I would say whatever you enjoy doing. Working is going to suck, you might as well chose something you like to do over something you already know you hate.
Reply:A lot of retail stores will hire teens. Sometimes its 16+, other times 18+ but I guess it just depends. Try looking at stores that normally teens shop at. I worked for Gap and the employees were all sorts of ages, but they seemed to treat all employees fairly and equally, regardless of age. At an interview just point out your positive traits. The best way to show your boss that you are not unreliable or flaky would be to prove it by being punctual, dependable, devoted, etc. The only way to show them is through action.
Reply:The local pools or government jobs. Or maybe even like local themeparks too. OR you could just work for a relative, that would be a lot easier too.
Reply:anything job you can get / get the experience its good remember be respectable and hard working everything else falls in place
