Why are black teens twice as likely toget pregnant as their white counterpart?

By many studies teen pregnacy among black teens is on the decline! But in a recently released study black teens are still twice as likely to get pregnant as white teens. Why is that and what can the Black community do about it?

No that's a flawed study because what happens is black girls decided to have their babies but white girls get abortions to keep their race unstained.
Reply:Thank you Simone!!! What she answered is so true. My cousin works at an abortion clinic and she has told me a million times that the whites girls that have abortions outnumber the black girls 2:1. Which means that they get pregnant just as much as blacks, but they get rid of their babies and blacks girls tend to deal with it! Those studies are most likely based on live births therefore an aborted fetus would not be accounted for which would in turn effect the way numbers come out. She also told me that because you don't have to identify your race on your paper work many of them leave it blank therefore they are not being counted as whites which would again alter the way numbers come out. You also need to remember that blacks are only 13% of the population so anything that we do would come out higher because its a smaller number to draw from. Whites have high blood pressure, are obese and deal with teen pregnancy just like us (blacks) but because they represent a much larger number in the population their numbers/risk on everything will be lower than blacks. Even if 20 white girls got pregnant and only 7 blacks, percentage wise we are going to have a higher outcome because we account for such a small piece of this population.

Reply:Those are distortions of the truth. Who was the study conducted by and what kind of study was it, are two(among many others) things people must ask themselves when they are faced with statistics. I am a firm believer in statistics are not 100% airtight. I believe that African(not black because that does not accurately describe who we are) community as a whole needs to educate ourselves on the fact that there are systematic and institutional forms of prejudice. We also need to fill up jobs in the area of anthropology, statistics and economics, etc.


Note to Symone: you said something about staining the white race.... I am far from prejudice, but I feel that white supremacists have stained their own race long ago and still do. Ask an Asian, Hispanic, African who they feel are the greatest thieves/liars of all time are and I guarantee that most will say, you know who~

Reply:I think a lot of these young ladies are mislead by things like these music video's and some of these lyrics in a lot of the music they listen to. A lot of these songs/video's promote sex and unfortunately a lot of these young people think it's the way to live since my favorite rapper/singer lives this way.


It's all false advertising and a lot of unsuspecting young people fall into this trap.





That is where parents should come in and teach their children right from wrong....reality from fantasy. And also not allow certain demoralizing entities enter their home....i.e.


certain types of music and monitor what their kids are watching.....





but broken family homes also play a big part in this problem (motherless or fatherless homes)
