Any other TEENS agree with me that teens are too young for sex? Hmm?

I'm 14. I think it's disgusting and so dumb that teens have sex. I think teens r too young for that. Anyone agree?

Any other TEENS agree with me that teens are too young for sex? Hmm?
Why do young teens have sex? While a recent study suggested sexy media images might be to blame, a new study shows kids might also be motivated by relationship goals like intimacy and social status.

Teens want their relationships to bring them intimacy, social status, and sexual pleasure -- and they have a strong expectation these goals will be fulfilled if they have sex, according to a report in the June 2006 issue of Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health.

The report says these perceived benefits should be considered along with the risks (sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancypregnancy) when developing programs aimed at preventing early teen sex.

Mary Ott, MD, from Indiana University, along with colleagues from the University of California, San Francisco, sought to find out why young teens want -- or would want -- to have sex (defined in this study as male-female intercourse). They surveyed 637 ninth-graders in two socioeconomically and ethnically diverse Northern California schools.

Gender Differences

About 57% of the kids were girls, 43% boys, and most were 14 years old.

The researchers found the boys and girls valued relationship goals differently:

Girls considered intimacy significantly more important than boys did.

Boys reported higher expectations that sex would lead to pleasure and social status.

Of the teens who answered a question about sexual experience, 13% said they had had sex. The experienced teens considered intimacy and sexual pleasure significantly more important as a relationship goal than the inexperienced teens did.

As for social status, sexually experienced girls saw less value in that than inexperienced girls did. There was no difference of opinion about social status between experienced and inexperienced boys.

The researchers say this supports the double standard that sex improves the social status of boys but jeopardizes it for girls.

Generally, teens expected sex to help them reach goals of intimacy, pleasure, and social status. However, girls and sexually inexperienced teens had lower expectations.

Prevention Tactics

The researchers say programs to dissuade early teen sex usually focus on the negative -- the risks of STDs and pregnancy.

Teens might heed the message better, they say, if the positive expectations -- "developing a sense of intimacy, achieving social skills and goals, and experiencing sexual pleasure" -- are recognized and alternative ways to achieve those goals suggested.
Reply:No. Not at all. In fact, it's in our design as humans to have sex when we're teenagers.
Reply:Not at all. If it feels good, so it. But be extremely careful regarding what you do and who with. The consequences can be catastrophic. We're each ready for different things at different ages. What bugs me the most is adults who can have sex whenever they want with whoever they want, but don't enjoy it as much any more, telling teenagers, at the height of their sexuality, that they can't.
Reply:Ah, you are fourteen. You'll learn.

But first learn English. Your spelling is atrocious.

Teens are incapable of completely understanding the full effects sex with have on them mentally and physically, but biologically as stated below me it is only natural for the urge to have sex to happen once puberty sets in.
Reply:I totally agree...although I must admit that there are times that I am curious and almost want to negotiate my own views, yes I DO AGREE!!! I am 14 as well btw.
Reply:I think it has more to do with responsibility and maturity. If a teenager feels that he/she is ready and is responsible enough to engage in sexual activities, then by gosh, do so. It is very important to know what you're going into. ;)
Reply:i think so 2 but some teens are just 2 h0rny so they can't wait lol
Reply:I started having same sex relationships at 11. Pretty young. Many times I wish I had waited until I was older. I'm 35 now and I'm bored with a lot of sexual stuff. I feel I lost a lot of my childhood. I really encourage all of you youngsters to wait.
Reply:i think its too young also. i mean, you dont fall in love that early...
Reply:I agree. They're not ready for the consequences.
Reply:It depends on what you mean by teen. Yes I would say 14 is too young. They are not ready for the complications that come with sex. They should just enjoy being young. But around 18 or 19 isn't bad. I think people mature around that age.
Reply:No. The biological age of puberty is around 12. In a purely natural sense, humans have evolved to have sex at 12+ years old.

That being said, I think you should at least be 14-15 before you have full sex.
Reply:Nope. Teens arent too young if they know whats happening and what they are doing. I started having sex at 16. Its not the age tho. Its your maturity towards it. People can do what they want, when they want, as long as they are comfortable, at any age.
Reply:I lost my virginity at 16 (considered old now), and wish I'd waited.

I can only imagine what 13 and 14 year olds will be feeling when they truly fall in love.

Yes, I do believe it is too young, but times they are achanging.
