I would like to hear from parents of troubled teens who have been entered into a residential program. Did it help your teen and your family? How long did your teen attend the program? How did you cope with the pain of sending your teen away?
I am on the verge of sending my 15 year old son to a boy's ranch in Texas. My teen is stealing, lying and denying, disrespecting, refusing to follow simple rules and disrupting the entire family. He has been in trouble with the courts for acting on dumb choices, been placed in alternative school for disrespecting teachers and fails to learn any valuable lesson from any of his mistakes.
This is a very painful decision for me. Not so painful for my husband who always seems to be nose to nose with him. However, I know that he needs to be saved from himself. How did you cope?
Parents of Troubled Teens - Residential Treatment Programs Results?
The results are permanent alienation, lifelong hatred, emotional scarring, and the occasional death.
I strongly recommend you read the accounts on the below websites before you do something you'll regret.
Reply:Just an additional comment here. I did not vote this person best answer. This person voted themself "best answer". I do not agree with his answer and most surely there was no good answer to this question. But thanks for trying. Report It
Reply:I don't have a troubled teen, but this school in my area has gotten excellent reviews. My neighbor is a teacher here as well. They do a lot of outdoor therapy and such.
