Helping teens?

What are the current and unmet needs of the Teen Population?

What possible obstacles are preventing resolution of these problems? and What types of human services exist for teens and how are they helping or hindering the youth of today?

What can we do as a community to help toubled teens?

Helping teens?
Current and unmet needs-

Parents doing their job and raising their kids. Instead they expect the government to do their job.

This problem represents the problems we face: personal responsibility.

We as a community need to teach people to start behaving like adults and take care of their kids.
Reply:The teen population is 1. too young to vote or 2. does not turn out to vote in large numbers, therefore politicians could care less. Honestly.
Reply:We, as a community, need to "help" teens before they are "troubled". By "we", I mean primarily parents making and enforcing rules, school systems reinventing discipline models like suspension and expulsion, law enforcement in communities enforcing curfews for minors, and faith based organizations and community action organizations developing, monitoring and providing youth activities. The "troubled teen" is usually the PC way to refer to a juvenile delinquent criminal. Quit candy coating life and teach these kids that choices have consequences and they can either be part of the problem or part of the solution. Teach them moral values and respect and make them understand that their rights end where another person's rights begin. Maybe if we give kids more books and less Nintendo 360s they would develop more of a social conscience.
Reply:we need some parents of these kids to accountable for the ones they have.
Reply:16 year olds not being enfranchised. Out of control youths are hindering the rest of us civilised teenagers from politically changing our lives.

To tackle youth crime, we need to target the root of the problem. Social alienation and poverty need to be stamped out, this coupled with a good education and decent upbringing should solve most of the problems. I hope.
