Do teens have any household responsibilities anymore?

I find it odd that none of the teens here seem to have any chores. Don't any of you mow the lawn, do dishes, make supper, vacuum, dust, laundry? Do you even have to take the trash out?





So many of you answer questions about sex. Is all you do is have sex and buy pregnancy test and abortion pills? There might have been teen sex 100 years ago, but those teens worked and lived as adults. Why is it so different now?

Do teens have any household responsibilities anymore?
You better believe my boys have chores. Matter of fact, They get kind of pissy with me over them, but I was working like a dog at the age of 7 or 8, doing dishes, working in the garden, cleaning house, helping my Mother with canning and baking, mowing, scrubbing toilets etc. I figure it's finally my turn to have a break. My kids NEVER say they are bored. If they do, I'll find 10 things for them to do. Many of their friends have responsibilities too.





I have a friend that has 3 boys as well. She never makes them do ANYTHING. When they say they are bored, (like constantly)she'll go buy them a new x-box game. They have a maid, and even though they are old enough to pour their own bowl of cereal, or make a piece of toast, she'll insist on doing it. I feel so sorry for any prospective wife of any of those boys. They'll never do a damn thing because they simply don't know how. That's how 1/2 this nation will be in 30 years. I can only imagine the welfare state at that time. They won't inherit any money because their parents don't save any.

I have chores, I do laundry and dishes, I make supper when asked or every once in a while. Vaccum when told. Clean out the microwave and stuff when it gets really dirty.

Reply:I walk the dogs, do the dishes, laundry,wash the dogs,feed the animals and take the trash out, oh ya and vaccum





I think about alot of stuff and that doesn't include sex
Reply:well, I had to do a lot of thta stuff and still do, just cooked supper thursaday, and yesterday. I mow the lawn, i actually like doing that, it get me some sun, its good excersise. i hate to do the dishes, but i still have to do the, i must do my won laundry, and I vaccum on ocassion, and i just took out the trash about an hour ago.; don't get me wrong, my moter works harder than any of us at home, and my dad works like a dog managing a store.

I'm 20...and I DEFINITELY had chores as a teen.


I don't know where you're living - but I know many people that do chores.





Just because they're on a computer answering questions that they probably have never even experienced before doesn't mean they are not responsible.

Reply:Society has turned into the instant gratification wanting kind. We want more for less and not have to do anything to get it.


Feel good it the name of the game. We are loosing these ole ways of life with out new gadgets and sex filled media..Yes sex was around them but it was not as available as it is today with our Internet and lifestyles.

As we get older, it becomes increasingly difficult to remember what it was like as a kid.





The only thing that has really changed is technology.





Industry continually creates labour saving devices which we buy into, thus creating fewer and fewer chores to do.





Look at the vacuuming routine. They have vacuum cleaners that move around on the floor on their own now.





Kids are the same, you are different.
Reply:I dont think teens have chores like they used to when I was one. But you better believe my kids do. They take turns doing dishes, their own laundry and dust and vacuum. They are not allowed to be on the computer all day. If I find they do, I will bring the mouse to work with me. lol!
Reply:As a teen myself I know about chores. I sweep and mop the floors everyday, do laundry, and the dishes. Just because some teens on here don't seem to have chores doesn't mean all teens don't. If you look I have answered questions on here about sex, I have also asked them but that doesn't mean I don't manage my time so I can work 35-40 hours a week, do my chores, have fun with my friends and my boyfriend, and go to school. Some teens are more mature than some of the adults on here so next time think before you ask questions.

Reply:I do dishes mow the lawn take out the trash do my own clothes and sometimes i make breakfast or supper. I don't answer questions about sex on here half of them are dumb questions anyway.I have a myspace and a yahoo account yet i have chores at home i always play sports so it's not like i don't do anything but get on the computer.i start school in 3 more weeks but that won't change to much of what i do now. i know some teens don't have anything to do and some more then others but just because the majority don't seem to do anything but talk about sex and play games or get online doesn't mean the rest of us are.and about the abortion pills i dont agree with abortion for anyone teens or anyone but what do i have a say in that. but anyway that's just me your question is true to some extent but by saying none of us seem to have any chores that's just like saying seems like none the adults seem to have jobs or do anything but that's an opinion ok well hope this answered what you ment.

Kids do a lot of stuff nowadays. Like making sure the cell phones are all charged, compacting the garbage, emptying and refilling the dishwasher, and seeing that the robo-dog has enough batteries to still be amusing for grandma and grandpa. LOL
