Unwise, immature, and always having sex or looking for it.
Now I understand most teens have sex at 16, 15, hell even 14, but some of the teens that do actually use protection. Are these unwise teens? Why is it when a teen fights back when they are hit in school they are considered immature and violent?
Why do people think that most teens are sex-crazed people and show be supervised when with the opposite sex?
My question is: Why do people think this about most teens? Also why do most people go to such lengths to stop us from contacting with the opposite sex?
Why are most teens looked down upon as...?
I guess I just found your other question...
Missy... you are so backwards. Sex is for makin babies huh? Is the only time you had sex when you were trying to conceive? I doubt. Babies get left and dropped for all sorts of reasons, and by all different groups. Its not just the teens that have done that. What about the adults that just flat out kill their babies bc they are not responsible enough to go on anti depressants?
It is normal for teens to want and to have sex. What is wrong are the backwards parents who wont even teach their child the correct names of their body parts.
Reply:you already that most teens are like that only. thats why people think
Reply:We think that because we were all teens at one time, so we know how it is/was. :P
Reply:Like u just said "some teens that do use protection" Meaning u think its OK for teens to have sex that's the problem young teens should not be haven sex!!!!! many years ago women would never sleep with a guy that young unless they were married now a days kids think its OK to do and its getting worse as time goes by. Teens should not be doing adult things sex is for maken babies and when these teens end up preg we have unwanted babies in this world and abortions done left and right not to even mention all the stds going around....So ya parents r going to try to stop u from being with the opposite sex! Also to add this in baby's ending up in dumpsters or trash cans or left in front of a fire station because teens think they have the balls to have sex but don't have the balls to stand up to there parents and tell them they r haven sex and got preg.
Reply:People have always thought this. It was the same when we were teenagers and we hated it also. I don't have this opinion of teenagers. I have two of them myself and another that is close. My children have always been encouraged to stick up for themselves. They are not allowed to start a fight but if one is picked with them then they better defend themselves. It is the only way. If you don't you will be a target for others with something to prove. I do not stop them from contacting the opposite sex. They are well educated on the subject and they know how to act. Sooner or later they are all going to have sex and sitting on top of them is not going to change it. As for being unwise, if they are using protection I would call them wise. They still have these opinions when you are a young adult too. Keep your head up and prove them wrong.
Reply:Wow being a teenager is a confusing time, they need more guidence now then ever before in there lives. They're caught between being adults and being children. They want to be both. The have all the answers and don't want to be told what to do but at the same time want to be taken care of. Not all teens are stupid, they just need more guidence then and 8 year old.
Reply:i sorta agree with missy when she said back in the old days teens were not having sex that young. im 19 and i know this because my mom is 52 and she told me about her days soo much. but having sex really is suppose to be for adults, now these days too many teens are having sex and its gettin out of control because they starting to be as young as 12 now. hell, i met a girl who told me she started having sex at 9. and it wasnt unwanted either, it was wanted. its ridiculous. and you wonder why our parents are very insecure about us and the opposite sex? its because they dont want us doing the same things. maybe there are some teens who raise their kids well, but still they shouldnt be having sex so young. i wish we could ban teen pregnancy and stuff but too bad we cant
Reply:Who says it's not in there place hm?
Everyone has an opinion, I could go off on you right now if I chose to.
Sex at 15 and 16 is fine with me if they use proper protection. I'm being very reasonable.
It's not THAT hard to put a condom on, seriously.
%26amp; For the people who say that teenagers are too lazy to put condoms on? You're probably right. But I'd bet they flip you off in a heartbeat. Sadly pathetic.

Question for teens: does it suck being your age?
My teen years were atypical for various reasons, so I only know what it is like to be a typical American teen through observation. (I'm 30 now, and much happier than I was then.) Most of the teens in this forum, especially teen girls, seem very unhappy. Ironically, teen girls are seen as the physical/sexual ideal by most men (where as guys are usually seen as "ideal" in their 20s), yet I see many girls here thinking they have to do something extraordinary (changing appearance, personality, etc.) to get just one good date. I suppose it doesn't matter if you're sitting on a ton of gold bricks if you, yourself, believe they are lead.
Question for teens: does it suck being your age?
No, it doesn't suck. Things about it do, like how many issues there are with drugs, alcohol, and sex and stuff. However overall I wouldn't necessarily say it sucked worse than other times in a person's life.
Reply:not really it has a lot of drama but it's purdy fun
Reply:no i love it I'm 18 now so can drive a car and go to clubs !!!
Reply:No it doesn't suck
Its better to make fun as a kid cuz then you grow up no more fun gotta get a job
Reply:It gets hard sometimes, but I have no doubt in my mind that these are the best days of my life. I'm in love with high school.
Reply:No not really! i love having lots of privlages!
Reply:um yeh it sucks.
a lot.

Mom's of teens and teens, please answer if this involves you?
i was a teen babysitting...my own sibblings. i was forced to watch my baby sister every day (even weekends) without being paid, and i never got to go out with my friends. i wouldnt mind babysitting if it wasnt so that my mom could go to bars and to her friends houses. what is your opnion on teens being responsible for their younger sibblings when its not really their responsibility?
my opnion, parents make their teens take responsiblity for their babies but dont want teens to have children of their own even after they have reassured them that they are capable of taking care of one. I hated my mother for making my spend my entire teen years at home babysitting, even after i got my car (that my boyfriend {now husband} bought me, not my parents) she wouldnt let me take my sister to the movies, the park, or anywhere for that matter. now that im out of the house and on my own she has actually made my brothers girlfriend babysit or she threatened to turn her in for having sex with my bro.
Mom's of teens and teens, please answer if this involves you?
I dont think its appropriate for a parent to make a child watch their siblings ALL the time, if its just so the parent can go out and have fun. It is important for an adult to get away from the everyday stresses of life once in a while, and I dont think its too much to ask for the oldest to watch the others for a little while, if they are responsible enough, and are rewarded in some way for it (money, priveleges, etc.) But it sounds to me like your mom was using you, from the information you gave. I DO know how you feel. My parents had to work a lot. I was NOT the oldest child, I had 2 older brothers still at home, and a younger brother. Even though there were older brothers, I was the one who had to watch my little brother for 3-4 days a week, as soon as I got home from school, until midnite or later. My older bros got out of it because they had "sports" and were in "bands". Plus, I was more responsible. My little brother had a lot of anger and emotional problems and was extremely difficult to deal with. However, my parents needed me because they were working and trying to support a total of 6 of us kids, AND my grandparents. I was really bitter for a long time, and jealous that my brothers got to be normal teenagers, and I had to be the 3rd parent in the family. I did all the housework for all the people in the house (there were times that there were 9 of us in the house). I also had to help with the rebuilding of our house. We had to gut the entire thing and remodel it one room at a time. I had to do just as much work as the boys did, in addition to the house cleaning and babysitting. I had to live in the laundry room for 3 years until my bedroom was finally finished, and even then I had to share it with my little brother who is 8 years younger. Like I said, I was pretty bitter for a while. Then I realized something. I could either hold on to my anger, and let it drag me down in life, ORRR... I could take some valuable lessons from the experience and grow to be a stronger, responsible adult. I recommend that you take a long hard look at your options too. What your mom did may have been wrong, but you can learn from her example, and know what kind of parent you DONT want to be. Today, I am proud to say that while my peers are partying, skipping college classes, or having kids that they dont take care of, I am a 21 year old happily married mother of a 2 year old little girl. I own a home business to bring in extra money while still being able to stay at home and raise my own child. I am happier and more succesful at my age than I ever thought I could be, simply because I decided to learn from my own mistakes and the mistakes of others, instead letting them drag me down and use them as an excuse to be miserable. Your life is in your hands. Yeah, your teenage-hood sucked, but because you have experienced that, you can make your adult-hood an incredible time. Your life is in your hands, and while some of these people may feel sorry for you, I dont feel sorry for you at all. You have the chance to let this make you stronger. Take it.
PS: your brother would be the one to get in trouble, not his girlfriend. Its called statutory rape. Since your brother is the adult one, he could be convicted of it and they wouldnt do a thing to his girlfriend at all. She is considered the "victim". Hello! Your mom is either stupid for not knowing that, or she thinks you and your brother are too stupid to know that and is making empty threats. Either way, it would be her own kid that got in trouble.
Reply:i know exactly how you feel although im not living at my moms house i am living at my husbands mothers house and she has a 2 year old and leaves me with her every time she wants she doesnt even say any thing and nither does the dad and im getting sick of it because i plan on going on walks or something and then i get stuck with a kid we pay rent and everything but i still get stuck and my husband still has to pay full rent i dont think its fair either so thats why we are trying to find a place of our own and maybe since you have a husband you and him could do the same nothing fancy just somewhere other then your moms house oh and if your mom reported your brothers g/f the g/f wouldnt get into trouble your brother would
Reply:I was in the same boat as you from the time i was 8, my mother left my father and was left raising us alone so she had to work all the time double shifts everyday ect and I got stuck taking care of my two younger brothers who are now 17 and 15. I am now 20.
Anyways i could not go out with my friends or anything for that matter because i had to be home to watch them.I was doing what my mother should have been doing helping with homework, cooking dinner, cleaning the house, putting them to bed, getting them up for school ect it was hard and i despised my mother because i didn't have real teenage experience so for that i left my mothers house when i was 16 and never went back. I started working when i was 16 to pay my own bills and got kicked out of school because i never went due to work.
Reply:well once my older brother died, i was in charge of baby sitting all my younger siblings, theres 7 of us kids still alive and i have to watch all 6 of them. im 15 and since my mom is a single parent i am ALWAYS home babysitting them. they don't behave they make big messes and i don't get paid. i hate it but i still do it
Reply:I know exactly how you feel. In the summer i had to babysit 4 days a week, each time 2 and a half hours. i barely ever got to see my friends at all. My sisters even started to call me, mommy, because my mom spent so much time with my brother and not at all with us.
i agree with you when you say that it isn't our responsibility! i was just born oldest. i didn't have sex and have 4 kids! i just had to. my mom complains that she has no time because she has so many kids, but she chose to. i feel sorry for your brother's girlfriend. thats a hard situation.
Reply:wow your mom is a bi***. I think its good for teens to have chores to do, to teach responsibility, but when parents want them to do everything as if they are their personal slave, its very wrong. they dont let their children enjoy their years as a child/teen, and congress should pass a law to prevent this kind of thing.
btw if your mom does turn your brothers girlfirend in she could be arrested as well. One reason, she knew it was happening and didnt do anything about it, and she blackmailed her. You should tell her that and see if she will do anything.
Reply:Tell your brothers girlfriend to tell your Mom that it is her son who will be in trouble for having sex with her, that she wont be in any trouble at all. I have known other girls who practically raised thier brothers and sisters and its not fun. There isnt any thing you can do to change your Mom tho so just let it go and quit worrying about it.
Reply:your mothers new babysitter would be doing jail time. Your mother is screwed up and needs help. be thankful to be away from her
Reply:Your bro shouldn't be having sex with a girl so young - it is against the law so what else do you need to know about it?
That said, I agree that parents shouldn't make siblings into free full-time babysitters. They should always be paid if they babysit at all.
Reply:Wow. Your mom is.........I don't know what. You need to report this to someone! Police, perhaps? If you do report it, the whole thing about your bro and his girlfriend won't happen, because the fact she has no proof about it. At least, I think. PRAY! That helps, too. Jesus Christ can do many things, if you just ask Him. I hope this helps.
God Bless!
Reply:I think any parent who expects their older children to give up their lives to babysit a sibling is selfish and wrong. Children should be raised by parents, not brothers and sisters.
I know that sometimes parents need help and if it's not very often, the help should be offered. But it sounds like your mother used you so she could party and not have to pay a babysitter. Wrong!
We got custody of my stepdaughter because of this reason. She didn't have a life because she was too busy babysitting. And she began watching her newborn sister when she was only 8!
Your mom is sick! The threats she is making prove that she probably shouldn't even have the children. Your brothers girlfriend should stay away. She's poison. If you don't think the children are being cared for, call CPS.
Reply:strict mom!!!it is not any of ur responsibilties to watch the little kids! i am surprised the girlfriend didnt break up with ur brother! i would confront her about ur feelings!
Reply:i'm 16, and i believe that if your parents once in a while need someone to watch your younger siblings you should do it without complaining. however if it becomes a regular thing, or if it starts to interfere with your life too much i think some kind of compensation is fair. for example i have my license and my parents make me take my little sisters to school or a doctors appt or whatever. they then pay for the gas since i am spending more time doing favors for them than driving myself somewhere. your mom sounds pretty manipulative to me, seeing as she punished the girl by making her babysit when your brother is the older one and should take responsibility. granted, it is illegal and unhealthy for there to be such an age difference but it is unfair for your mother to use it to her advantage.
Reply:I know how you feel - i have a mate who has a mum who does this to her - my friend is one of 6 sibling - 1 of which is 18 and is now off enjoying her life - and then my friend has to sit her younger sisters and brother - their ages are 12, 8, 6, 4 - and she is 14 and it drives her crazy because her mum is like "Can you just look after the kids while i pop of for a few hours. I feel really sorry for her - and for you!
Personally, i consider myself very lucky as my mum says she will never get me to look after my little sister unless i want to or if it's a complete emergency. I am 14 and my sister is 11, and even still my mum says i never HAVE TO look after if i don't want to. She leaves it completely up to me which i respect because as she is asking, i think well - i suppose i could as she hasn't forced it upon me.

Any Teens With Some Sense Today?
I'm 19 years old, and I've been watching the news a lot lately, and I have to say I am shocked at how ridiculous the teens of today are. The Polk County Girlfight (more like brutal beating), the three 15-year-old-girls who beat the 12-year-old in NY, crazy teen actions over spring break vacations, the list just goes on.
These news stories are ruining the respect people have for teens in America.
Are there any teens that have a good head on there shoulders anymore? Like I said I am 19, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I'm in college going for my Doctorate's in English, I love my family, I would never hurt anyone. Are there any teens that are the same?
Any Teens With Some Sense Today?
Good teenagers are never in the news, all you see are the horrible cases . . .
I'm sixteen, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't party, I don't fight. My friends and I are in AP classes where we do well and we spend most of our time studying or just talking instead of doing the bad things you see in the news. We all plan on graduating and going to college. I wish that good teenagers were displayed in the news so that adults don't think that all teens are bad. Many teenagers respect themselves and deserve the respect of their peers as well as the respect of adults.
Reply:im a teen and i dont do anything like that.
i think all the spring break stuff is gross and
i would never do anything like that.
a lot of my friends arent like that at all.
i'm in with a good people group =)
lol.
Reply:I'm at home for Spring Break..
I don't do drugs(tried it,was awful)
I drink occasionaly; mostly for special occasions.
And I want to be an artist, photographer, or pediatrician.
I'm 18.
Reply:sure there are(they can be of any social class). I was one of the teens that did not do drugs, was not on alcohol. Not to say I was completely innocent, however, compared to some of the kids I grew up with(upper middle class and upper class) I ahve more common sense. You are doing a good job, by not doing any of this stuff and that you are staying in school. Keep at that.
Reply:Teenagers are upstanding, productive members of society. They are denied basic human rights by the government, yet they still do what's right most of the time. Needless to say, the media needs some group to villify, and because blacks and women are out, it's now teenagers.
Reply:like with everything there is always the good bad and the ugly
as humans we always look at the ugly!
well anyways im personally a more mature teen [well sometimes lol]
but im a straight A involved kinda chick! (:
Reply:They put things on the news that don't happen very often or are uncommon. If they happened all the time they wouldn't be on the news very much would they?
Reply:Theres some good ones out there. But everyday the teens out there are just getting worse. Some of it comes from the media. Like the whole thing of how music is part of the reason teens know more obscene language and about the "dirty sex talk". Congrats and keep up the good work on being a good teen though!
Reply:i know i am and i know wat u mean. people fight over stupid things and its mostly teens and i doubt its the hormones cuz u and me can control it without even trying. i think society is just getting stupider now a days. i also dont get the satisfaction others get just from hitting some1 cuz it does make u right it just shows the other person cant fight it doesnt even prove a point.
Reply:I hear about kids crashing and dying because they didn't wear a seatbelt of all things. Then you have most of the teens here who don't know basic grammar.
I noticed most of the people my age like friends better than family too. I think, out of all things, teens should have a strong sense of family. I love my family more than anything, because I know they'll always be there for me. Friends will only be there for so long.
Not all teens are like what the media protrays them to be. I think the media is something which fuels stereotypes. They just don't show the whole story anymore.
My dad tells his peers about me all the time and offers for me to meet them. As soon as he tells them I'm sixteen, they often refuse. When I was ten, this never happened. This hurts me.

Reply:I know what you mean, i personally lead a very sheltered life away from the hardships that a lot of people have endure while they are growing up, but on the other hand i really don't think it is a class thing, all the bits you hear in the news about the drink, drugs and fighting of teenagers is obviously very bad but as someone said people who have had a privileged background are except from this behavior because they have had an easy life. Don't get me wrong i do no deny that being looked after loved and having a good education is not an easy life , but i also think that the whole drink an drugs thing happens whoever you are and does not matter who you are with, the amount of times my brother (at boarding school)had internal suspensions and gatings from his house master for drinking and smoking, i don't think that i could count on two hands, i think in today's culture you just have to make sure that you do not fall into that trap.

you obvously dont have anything close to a bad home life - nor to any of the people on here you are agreeing with you.
kay seriously if you had my life you probably would be dead by now.
all of my friends are either poor, have a broken home, alchoholics/drug addicts for parents, or get abused. when you go though that everyday its a bit difficult not to drink and do drugs. especially when you know your not gonna go anywhere in life and end up working at mcdonalds for 30 years.
thats why we all get into fights, sell/do drugs, smoke, drink, have sex, break the law, and party it up cause were just so pissed off at the world for giving us this **** life we need an escape from it all.
your probably not even gonna understand what im saying cause you wont unless youve lived it. it is sad what we teens do to eachother and to ourselves but thats just the way it is outside the queit little suburbs in Beverly Hills where you live.
Reply:I COMPLETELY agree with you. I am currently 14 years old, and stuck in the midst of fellow teenagers. I've heard so many things that just make me sick to think about. One day, a couple of girls and I were sitting in a group durin gym one day, and one girl asked the other "have you ever given your boyfriend head?" and the girl proudly responded "in fact I've gone much further than that..." I sat there, smiling to myself, feeling the saddest feeling I can feel. I mean.... 14 years old and doing these things. It's just crazy how the world in general is these days. We're in the 21st century with a new era of advances in technology, new medical achievements, miraculous tales of wonder, and yet there are still genocides taking place. Only 60 miles away from Darfur, there are civilized towns full of materialized people who disregard the crisis going on in their own country...
But now I'm veering off topic. I had gotten myself in some very close calls in my earliest years of entering adolescence, but I had managed to pull myself from the waters and see the mistakes in my actions. I have learned from other's mistakes as well and continue to thrive with my new aptitude and knowledge. There are copious things in the world that we cannot change, but it all comes down to how these teens were taught and if they truly understand that there is a world much, much larger than them.
I am 14 years old, but I've been through quite alot for my age. I have peers and adults alike telling me that I am much too mature for my age. I don't drink, i don't do drugs, and I am planning to pursue a career in law, medicine, or something amazing... like being a mother someday with a loving husband. I do plan to take courses to have a Doctorate's in English as well, if I have the time, money, and patience 4 years from now, since English is one of my dominant subjects. I am currently taking one advanced class, and next year I will be taking 3 honors classes and starting to find a low pay job to save up for support in my college years.
But enough ranting, hmm? Let's just say I completely agree with you. And I am definantly the same! :D
Reply:Not all teens are like this.
They new usually shows negative stories which fuel generalizations about teenagers.
newspapers and magazines show negative teen stories because it attracts more people to buy the publication.
people just aren't interested in the majority of good teenagers out there.
Reply:You're only reading the bad stuff about teenagers. In the paper around here there is a fourteen-year-old girl is helping coach a soccer team for children with mental disabilities of her own free will. Does that sound like a horrible teenager to you? There are teenager holding an art auction (the art is also made by high school students) for fund-raising for kids in Africa, I think. Well, someplace in the world. I almost submitted one of my drawings but I couldn't finish it on time :0( They always put the bad stuff on the news and in newspapers, but hardly any of the good stuff, though they really should put more of the good stuff in. The news is giving teenagers a bad name. Most people I know of are more caring than that, not as stupid, and don't vandalize things or beat people up. I'm fourteen and my mom and I sponsor a kid in Ethiopia, I've never once littered on purpose in my whole life (that I can remember, anyway), I've never even had a boyfriend, never vandalized, never beat someone up, I hardly ever swear, well, as long as no one can hear or no one is there I don't, don't drink alcohol, party, etc. And it's not like I'm the only person at my school like that. People tend to be drawn towards the bad news rather than the good, so that's what people write about, because that's what gets more people to subscribe to them. You think that's creepy? A mass murderer lived ten minutes from my house, maybe less. I know the exact house he lived in. And no, it's not someone who murdered all of his victims before I was even alive, I mean someone who was killing people up until I was about seven or so years old. My dad and I used to go for bike rides past his place. He had a car with a boulder on top of it in his front yard, we couldn't figure out why someone had done that (this is before people knew he was a murderer), but now that I think about it he was probably hiding some bones or evidence in there. That's creepy. My neighbours daughter even went to a party at his house once. I can't give out too much information about him since I live so close, but he's suspected of killing something like sixty-five women.

I'm a year ahead in spanish and math. I've never touched a cigarette or drugs ever. I have to admit to SOME drinking in Mexico, but my parents have been there every time and its no where near being totally wasted or even drunk at all. I have also definitely had the opportunity for drugs and alcohol, considering one of my three best friends has shown up drunk to school dances and smokes weed. I also have a job and one of my 24 year old coworkers is border line alcoholic, if not alcoholic. I have been around some bad influences and I will admit that there are a lot of them out there, but I, like you, hope to change the American teen reputation to show that there are still "good girls".

These news stories are ruining the respect people have for teens in America.

you obvously dont have anything close to a bad home life - nor to any of the people on here you are agreeing with you.
kay seriously if you had my life you probably would be dead by now.
all of my friends are either poor, have a broken home, alchoholics/drug addicts for parents, or get abused. when you go though that everyday its a bit difficult not to drink and do drugs. especially when you know your not gonna go anywhere in life and end up working at mcdonalds for 30 years.
thats why we all get into fights, sell/do drugs, smoke, drink, have sex, break the law, and party it up cause were just so pissed off at the world for giving us this **** life we need an escape from it all.
your probably not even gonna understand what im saying cause you wont unless youve lived it. it is sad what we teens do to eachother and to ourselves but thats just the way it is outside the queit little suburbs in Beverly Hills where you live.

I don't think you are spoiled at all. Who ever made that comment is just trying to make it look okay to do these screwed up things.
Just stay sane yourself and take care.

I love science and technology. I want to protect my nation and all those who are close to me. I have a strong sense of loyalty.
I hope to work at NASA or Google when I have the expertise.

You hardly ever see the good cases on the news, just because it's how it is...
But don't worry, I assure you there are still a lot of mature, intelligent, and caring teens out there! =)
P.S%26gt; (Although by the way I feel sometimes they are really shadowed by the horrid, violent cases)

Teens Only? Please answer?
I am a life coach and I have this group on Yahoo! for teens to complete challenges and activities which have deadlines for them to complete them by. I have these teens open up with me and other teens around their age. The problem is that it seems like I'm forcing them to complete them %26amp; they don't seem eager to do them, how can I get them more excited? What are teens doing for fun nowadays? Any ideas, please share them? What would you like me to add to the group?
I'm rethinking the whole way I started this group out. Please help and answer all the questions I just asked.
*If you want to join, please leave your e-mail address in the source section and you'll be invited to join us.
Teens Only? Please answer?
I agree with a previous answer that there shouldn't be deadlines. How can you ask someone to share their feelings and put a deadline on it?
When you give deadlines, we feel pressured, we already have sports homework friends clubs and have to spend time with family so another deadline will only make your group resent you.
Many kids my age wont say how they feel because they are affraid of being made fun of or that people will view them as something that they aren't.
It can be hard for people to share their feelings so just let the kids in your group open up to you in their own time. Eventually they will trust you enough that they will talk.

Teens only-Teen issue books?
binge drinking, fights.out of control partys, fast cars(burnouts, racing),drugs(weed mushys ex)sex.hating parents, hating the world, needing money, geting in trouble at skool and with police,,,,um sex, boring school.there a couple topics NOT THAT IM INVOLED IN ANY OF THEM tho chers
Reply:Not all teens hate reading. I loved to read as a teenager, and I read mysteries, classics, etc. Just write what you think you know about.
Reply:well i dont know how many teens would relate to it, but how about a book about a girl forced to go to a private school that sucks (very poorly kpet) and sees this guy, they fall in love, and..... you go from there
Reply:You say "teens only", but all adults were teens once and lived to tell about it! You think they don't remember what issues they faced then that are still around to plague modern teens and that they might have something to share?
Bad teachers and administrators and coaches? Pressure to do better than you can? Stepparents? Everything to do with sex, including peer pressure and boyfriend/girlfriend pressure and being gay or lesbian and self-image, etc.
Btw, to be a writer, you have to write. That sounds obvious, but it means writing something, anything, every single day. Short pieces, long pieces, fiction, essays, poems, rants, letters, etc. Best wishes, and good luck!
Reply:Well you can talk about teen sex and education
Reply:Here are some things I though of that generally happen to or around 11 and up:
-fights (pushing, hitting, punching)
-boyfriends
-friend fights (gossip, mean staring, crying)
- shopping
- music
- shaving (girls or boys first starting)
- sleepovers
- rape
- truth or dare
- crushes
- anorexia
- food
- brothers/ sisters
- travel
- riding the bus
- sex
- cussing
Reply:and getting thru high school tips would be good....
Reply:I'm not a teen, but my daughter will be in a matter of months; right now something she is struggling w/ is
~finding good friends that respect her
~being responsible w/ school assignments
I'd love to know when you get the book done, it may be helpful for her.
