Teens who babysit and parents who use babysitters. I have a few questions for you.?

I'm looking for teens who babysit for other people that family and friends.

Teens:

How did you adveritse?

Did you meet with the kids and parents before your first time with them?

How many families do you babysit for at a time?

How much did you charge?

What is your age?

Parents:

How do you feel about younger teens (I'm 14) babysitting for your kids?

Which have you used for a babysitter: older teens or younger teens?

Did you do an "interview" with them?

If so, what kinds of questions did you ask?

What do you expect the babysitter to do?

Teens who babysit and parents who use babysitters. I have a few questions for you.?
teen:

i offer my help to larger families in the community

yes

usually one or two (two only if the families know each other)

i let the parents decide i've gotten anywhere from $5 an hour for two boys, down to $2 an hour (as a base offer)

im 16 but i started babysitting at 12
Reply:I have 3 girls ages 9, 6 %26amp; 5. I have a 17 year old babysitter, we've had her for a year now. I think 14 would be too young for me to allow to babysit my girls. I never interviewed her, i instead "watched" as she played with my girls and interacted with them. I don't like to interview because I think people give you answers that you want to hear rather than what they really feel or think. I like observing people and that gives a clear picture of what they are really like.

My babysitter plays with them outside, does arts and crafts and plays board games and gives the snacks, reads them a story and puts them to bed for me. During the summer I use her alot but other times not so much, it's good to know she's there whaen I do need her though. She is a great girl and i am lucky to have found her, my girls just adore her.

I asked her how much she would charge and she told me anything I wanted to give was fine, so i give her $7.00 an hour. Hope that helped!!
Reply:I would only hire a teen who I know - either a family member, a friend of the family, or a neighbor. The age would not matter as much as the maturity level. I have them spend a few hours with the baby and I ask them to change the baby, feed the baby, etc. during this time. I observe and make any corrections as needed. This also familiarizes the baby with the sitter so there is less separation anxiety when I leave.

I expect the sitter to care for the baby as far as feeding, changing and keeping the baby safe and comfortable. I also expect the sitter to play with the baby and read a story before bed (our usual bedtime ritual).
Reply:im 21 and married now but when i was babysitting i started at 12 bc a friend of the family was working out of the home and i watch her children all the way up till i got married and moved away. At one time i baby sat up to 5 familys but not all at once and the most kids i watched were i think 4. But i would watch the baby sitter to see if ure kids like her and see how she acts around them.i also had to cook dinner once i got older and baths bed time and pick up any messes and wash dishes once the kids where in bed and i had to let the dogs out and walk them after super if the kids felt up to it (mothers words not mine)
Reply:Personally I think 14 is just too young to be babysitting any children.
Reply:i have done none of those so i have no idea
Reply:I am a parent and suggest you start with people that you and your parents know. Maybe you could volunteer at your church nursery. Or you could babysit starting out for a couple of hours at your house with your parents their until you,the families %26amp; children you are caring for get to know you a little better. Show maturity, love ,care and keep and eye on them every second. I also suggest you buy a first aide safety book. Research on child care %26amp; babysitting on the internet and check out some books at your local library. There is alot of resposibility when care for children and each age is different. Hope This helps! good luck!
