Teens' responsibility for Driving?

Teen's make up 15% of the accidents on the roads these days (data provided by a government site). The other 85% therefore can be contibuted to drunk drivers and people with bad habits and *gasp* actual accidents. So why do I hear all the time how teens are blaimed for this and all the rules they're making to limit teens activities on the road. Why do we make cars so idiot proof yet cannot deal with the idiots themselves? Why does America focus on teenagers so much? Any one driving in the Bay Area of California or any other agressive place are welcome to explain it to me.

Teens' responsibility for Driving?
I'm just guessing here - you are a teenager. It may seem that everyone, or as you state "America" is focusing on teens and putting the screws to you and restricting what you would prefer or desire to do. This is not the case. The rules are being set by people who were young once and realize that teens and more intested in answering their cell phone while driving and reading that SMS message on their phone or flirting with the cute co-eds in the car next to them. It's not your fault that you are a less safe driver now then you will be at 25 or 35... but it's the facts. Right now, you are on the short end. But when you turn 25, you'll be happy that you are no longer paying those astronomical insurance rates of the under 25 demographic. Car rental companies flat out refuse to rent to drivers under 25. Why? Their driving skill are fine and comparable to drivers of all ages - they are just distracted too quickly, they are too much of a risk. There are exceptions... Danika Patrick (Indy car driver) is too young to rent a car. She is prolly 1000 times a better driver than I will ever be (I'm 37). You may be an exception, but you need to get over the fact that you are young and have to accept being classified as such. If it makes you feel better, I'd happily pay the extra insurance and endure the curfews and restrictions to be a teenager again! Good Luck, God Bless and Happy Easter!
