Teens are stupid?

- They do everything that fashion says

- Guys think that being jerks is cool

- Girls think that being a slut is cool

- They listen to trashy music

- They like to party too much

- Theyare lazy

What the hell is happening here? Of course there are clever teens, but must of them are incredibly stupid. I am a teen. I am very different (don't like parties, play jazz piano, love physics) teen and I have been rejected. Write a long answer explaining teen's stupidity, because I would like to understand it

Teens are stupid?
actually u r kinda wrong but kinda right loll

Some teens dont do everything fashion says.

like for instance..me! fashion says that big sunglasses are in now but i say why cover up your face with sunglasses (unless your ugly..lol)

i dont wear them instead i wear aviator sunglasses.

not all girls think being a slut is cool.

i dont in fact its stupid because girls that are sluts are just gong to become pregnant and/or get an std.

i dont listen to trashy music.

i listen to led zeppelin and the beatles

if u think that trashy when then ur deffenitly wrong

partying can be fun as long as u dont over do it

yea im lazy lol

but its not my fault cuz im up all night doing hmwk

lol

jazz piano is awesome ..not all people think thats "uncool"

and physics is cool also .

i like learning about space and astronomy.

Reply:i feel that way too about our generation and i was just thinking about it earlier. my problem is that i was comparing our generation to the earlier generation. but are we really that more different than they were? no. categorize what you have said about our generation-- following blindly, pretending to be certain types of people, irresponsible and lazy. our parents were like that, too. blindly believed ideas set about women's inferiority, or about white supremacy (remember all the resistance to eliminating segregation?). im sure they did irresponsible things, such as drugs, but no one spoke about them. everyone had to be "proper" and secretive about their lifestyles, which also connects me too my next point that the last generation was full of posers also, people who pretended to be goody too shoes and who were never about sexuality. of course there were a few clever people who actually spoke out and got people's attention about women's and black people's rights. now this generation is lazy due to technology so ill agree with you on that. but we arent much different.
Reply:I agree with you. They're sheep, all they do is follow trends for acceptance - they follow the trends of the internet and MTV (MTV is one of the greatest evils of our time and helped facilitate the pornography explosion), they're too easily manipulated.

And then they wonder why their lives suck.

I didn't follow the typical trends either - I didn't party (and still don't, at 19), i haven't yet had sex, I enlisted in the military (which didn't get me many friends in high school), and I'm actually standing by my principles instead of letting them be skewed and grayed out by MTV and other forms of mass media.

And I also didn't listen to contemporary music. My high school years were spent listening to the tunes of the mid-to-late 1970s, which isn't something you find very often.
Reply:you're just generalising teenagers, i know loads of people who aren't like that and even people who appear to be like that turn out to be really nice if you actually get to know them. also, how can you party too much? do what you want, if you want to go to parties, then go to parties. parties are fun. Teenagers are just trying to find themselves which takes a long time and also, why not do what you want while you don't have any responsibilities? When you're a teenager, you can do stupid things and get away with it. Teenagers tend to follow the fashion because fair enough, i guess thats just the world that we live in, but also because they can't find the confidence to wear something different.
Reply:yeah i know what you are talking about , i pity teenager , it seem getting worst than 50 years ago.

but most of teenager think they know everything!

they don't get it, because i am older and live longer than they do but ; they kept telling me i am always wrong.

hahaha.

yeah right.
Reply:I'm a teen, too. Part of the problem is that teens have had such a reputation, earned or not, that we're supposed to act stupid. Now, it is expected. I don't understand it myself. This should be a very productive part of life. We're old enough to understand adult matters, and young enough to understand a child's world. I'm rejected by some other teens because I'm not like them. Still, children and most adults respect and trust me. I'd rather have that than some fleeting peer approval.
Reply:Teens have no experience in anything yet think they know everything. Add to that a ton of hormones RAGING through their bodies, the current me generation and I want it now society we live in and its a recipe for disaster. Even when I was a teen I never understood why they all had to dress alike to be different from everyone else.

Anyway since you are a teen yourself you know that there are some who are not stupid and do the things you listed. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. Also there are quite a few adults who can easily be labeled STUPID.
Reply:Nope. Teens are not stupid. They vary in that some are more knowledgeable than others. This is the result of influences that some have been exposed to while others are not necessarily stupid but, just have not been motivated or influenced by some one or some thing. I was a teen fifty years ago and I have watched some people grow to adulthood and mature. I have also noticed people who seemingly got stuck somewhere along the road and never quite got to where they could have had they practiced just a little more self discipline. Defeated by an overly active interest in the opposite sex, dedicating ones attention to unimportant efforts and pleasures are all pitfalls on the road of life. It is not a sin to be stupid. It is a sin to stay stupid.
Reply:i'm 14 and i'm not of those types of teens, first of all i hate the music they listen to, it's too annoying. second, i hate writing in their language (example "u" "dis" "lyk")

but then, who can stop them? no one can. my older brother is 18 years old and he acts exactly like what you said.

well, no one can do anything about them...
